3. EXPRESSION of SUFFICIENCY
‘Sufficient’ is not same as ‘plenty, abundant, ample’ – all of which stress on ‘how much more compared to what is normal’. On the other hand ‘sufficient’ stresses on ‘more than minimum’ which often means ‘just little more than minimum’. What is abundant for someone or in some case may not be sufficient for someone else or in some other case/situation. Expressions of sufficiency can have different word class as follows and therefore different usages.
